7-Day Akagera Wildlife & Nyungwe Chimpanzee Safari

Arrive at Kigali International Airport and meet your guide. Transfer to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure to explore Kigali or rest after your journey. Welcome dinner and trip briefing.

Early departure for Akagera National Park (approximately 2.5 hours). Full-day game drive through savanna and lakeside habitats, spotting lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and antelope. Check in to your safari lodge in or near the park.

Early morning boat safari on Lake Ihema — spot hippos, crocodiles, and a wealth of waterbirds. After lunch, drive south toward Nyungwe National Park (approximately 5 hours), passing through Rwanda's scenic countryside. Arrive at your forest lodge in the evening.

Very early morning chimpanzee tracking expedition in Nyungwe's ancient montane rainforest. Trek through dense forest with expert guides to find a habituated chimpanzee community. Observe their behavior and social interactions. Afternoon at leisure or optional forest walk.

Morning Canopy Walkway — walk across a suspended bridge 60 meters above the forest floor with panoramic views of the rainforest. Afternoon waterfall hike through the lush forest, passing through one of Nyungwe's most scenic trails.

Morning trek to find a troop of Ruwenzori colobus monkeys — Nyungwe is home to one of the largest groups in Africa (up to 400 individuals). After the trek, drive to Lake Kivu and check in to a lakeside lodge. Afternoon relaxation by the lake.

Enjoy a peaceful morning by Lake Kivu — optional kayaking or boat ride. After lunch, drive to Kigali (approximately 4 hours). Arrive in time for your departure flight or enjoy a final evening in the city.
